Rita Orji

Treasurer

Rita Orji is an Asst. Professor in Computer Science and the director of the Persuasive Computing Lab at Dalhousie University, Canada. She is well-known for her work in the area of Personalizing Persuasive Technology and has published over 90 peer-reviewed papers.

Her work has won several awards, including Best Paper Awards and Research Excellence Awards. Recently, she was recognized as one of the Top 150 Women in Canada Changing the World through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Top 60 African Women in STEM, and Top 80 Women and Non-Binary People in Canadian Tech. She has given over 80 presentations at national and international events, including 5 Keynotes, 34 invited talks, and 44 conference and other public presentations, and over 40 instances of media coverage. She has many years of experience serving on program and steering committees, co-chair, and associate chair for several HCI and Persuasive Technology conferences including the Persuasive Technology Conference, CHI, AfriCHI. Dr. Orji has successfully co-organized 10 workshops over the past five years, including the Personalizing Persuasive Technology Workshops, Personalization in Serious and Persuasive Games and Gamified Interactions Workshop, Positive Gaming: Workshop on Gamification and Games for Wellbeing.
